What are MDF Boards?
MDF, or Medium Density Fibreboard, is a board made from wood fibers bonded together with synthetic resin adhesive, often urea-formaldehyde resin similar to that used in particle board. The wood fibers used in MDF are finely ground sawdust from softwood species. The process involves drying the sawdust, mixing it with the resin adhesive, and then pressing the mixture into panels under heat until the resin cures. This results in a dense and uniform panel with smooth surfaces on both sides.
MDF boards are commonly used in furniture making and woodworking due to their smooth finish and consistent density. However, a drawback of MDF is that the surface can deteriorate, especially under heat exposure, as the adhesive bond may weaken over time.
For a more naturally crafted and durable wood product in the long run, opting for artisan-crafted edge-glued panels from us may be a preferable choice.
